As usual, Apple fans are giddy with excitement, but not for the Pro model. Instead, the iPhone 17 Air is getting the most attention in the upcoming iPhone 17 series.
Users say that they are more excited about its super-thin design, rumoured to be just 5.5mm, than the iPhone 17 Pro. This shows that people are talking more about Apple’s design change than about extra cameras.
iPhone 17 Air Wins Over Fans
At the launch events at Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru and Apple Koregaon Park in Pune, many customers said they were more excited about the iPhone 17 Air. Apoorv VK Rao, the first customer at Apple Hebbal, shared, “I am more interested in the iPhone 17 Air.” When asked about the rumoured single-camera setup, he said, “I’m not a photographer and simply do not care about the optics. Instead, it is the slim form factor that appeals to me.”
This response was echoed by several others, who said they were drawn to the Air because of its rumoured thinness rather than its camera features.

A Super-Thin iPhone Creates Hype
Many fans said the plus and mini models of the past did not bring real differences beyond size. But the iPhone 17 Air, rumoured to be under 6mm and possibly as thin as 5.5mm, excites people because it feels like a big design change. If true, this would make it Apple’s thinnest iPhone ever, even slimmer than the iPhone 6’s 6.9mm design.
The idea of holding a super-thin phone has become a key talking point, and it is this unique design angle that sets the Air apart from the rest of the lineup.
Fans Want Fair Pricing
While many fans are ready to buy the iPhone 17 Air, pricing remains a concern. Tarun, a customer at the Pune launch, said, “I’ll definitely get the iPhone 17 Air if it’s priced around ₹90,000, but if Apple prices it close to the Pro models, then it will not make sense, as Pro models do offer a lot of extras.”
This sentiment reflects a wider expectation that Apple should keep the Air priced below the Pro models to attract design-focused buyers.

What to Expect Inside the iPhone 17 Air?
Reports say the iPhone 17 Air could ship with the A19 chip, possibly built on 3nm technology, along with 12GB RAM to support Apple Intelligence features. However, due to its thin design, the Air may have a smaller battery. To fix this, Apple is reportedly working on MagSafe battery accessories to extend usage.
Design Over Features
The iPhone 17 Air could redefine how fans think about premium iPhones. Despite the fact that the Pro series has always had better performance and cameras, the Air seems to be becoming more popular due to its appearance.
If the Air is priced correctly, it might become a new favourite and mark Apple’s return to prioritizing design above functionality.
