Spotify has introduced a new feature that lets users share their favourite songs, playlists, and podcasts directly to WhatsApp Status. The update is first rolling out to Android users and allows sharing music, albums, podcasts, or even audiobooks as visual cards with cover art and track details.
According to the company, this new feature will be available to both free and Premium users globally in the coming weeks.
Spotify has confirmed that Android users can now post what they’re listening to on their WhatsApp Status. The shared status will display the song or podcast title, cover art, and an “Open on Spotify” button, allowing friends to jump straight to the track.
Viewers can even listen to a short preview of the song before opening the full version in the Spotify app.
The update makes it easier for users to express their music taste and share what’s trending with their contacts. Spotify said, “It’s a seamless way to showcase your newest obsessions or timeless favourites while also keeping up with your friends’ finds.”
Sharing music from Spotify to WhatsApp Status is simple. Here’s how users can do it:
This feature allows users to promote their playlists or simply share what they’re enjoying, making music sharing more interactive and social.
Spotify is not stopping at WhatsApp. The streaming platform has also upgraded its sharing options across Instagram, Snapchat, and TikTok. On Instagram, users can now share their Spotify tracks through Notes in real-time and let followers listen to short audio snippets before opening the full song.
On TikTok, Spotify users will soon be able to share songs, podcasts, and audiobooks directly within the short-video app — enhancing discovery and engagement between both platforms. The same feature is also coming to Snapchat, where users can post Spotify clips to their Stories or send them directly via chat.
In addition, Spotify has improved in-app messaging, letting users send songs, podcasts, and audiobooks directly to friends inside the Spotify app.
This move highlights Spotify’s growing shift toward social media integration and real-time sharing. With WhatsApp’s global user base, Spotify is clearly trying to make listening more social, interactive, and visible.
By letting users share snippets and previews, Spotify is turning music discovery into a social experience — one that goes beyond playlists and algorithms to rely on friend recommendations.
