Google’s next AI-powered app is called Mixboard. It helps users create visual concepts, mood boards, and collages. The app uses AI to speed up brainstorming, design, and concept discovery. Mixboard is now available in the US as a public beta through Google Labs.

Google has also started a Discord community where early users can share feedback, ask questions, and discuss ideas. With this launch, Mixboard directly competes with Pinterest, which is already famous for its digital collages and creative boards.

AI Makes Creativity Easy

Traditional mood board apps usually make users upload images or choose them manually. Mixboard works differently. Users can just type a text prompt, and Google’s AI will create images, collages, and editable boards. Users can then edit the boards, mix elements, or redo them to match their ideas better.

The program utilises Google’s Nano Banana image editing model, which is well-known for producing realistic images and making complex edits with ease. Users can make small changes in the images, regenerate them for new ideas, or even create “more like this” copies of the images.

This technique makes it easier to quickly and efficiently transform ideas into visual boards for both beginners and professionals.

Perfect for Everyday Inspiration

Google says Mixboard is designed for a wide range of creative uses. Users can make boards for home décor, event planning, DIY projects, branding, or design brainstorming. For those who want a fast start, Mixboard also offers pre-made boards that users can modify according to their preferences.

The app also supports text generation, which allows users to write captions or descriptions for the images on their boards. This makes Mixboard helpful for presentations, social media content, or project pitches, where clear visual ideas and supporting text are both important.

Competing in a Growing Market

Mixboard enters a market where people, especially younger users, are showing more interest in AI-powered creative tools. Gen Z has been using Pinterest’s Shuffles app to make collages. Startups like Verse and Landing have also tried AI-based creative tools. Even the fashion marketplace Depop recently added a collage feature to help users style and show their collections.

By combining generative AI with mood board creation, Google aims to attract designers, creators, and casual users who want quick and visually appealing inspiration without spending hours making mood boards.

Productivity Boost

According to experts, Mixboard is more than just a creative tool. With AI-generated boards and captions, users can save time when planning, creating, or preparing presentations. Designers and content creators can quickly test and develop ideas without starting from scratch.

Casual users can plan social media posts or home decor faster and easier. This makes Mixboard not just a creative tool but also a productivity helper. It lets users work smarter while exploring their ideas in the growing world of AI-powered apps.
