Google refreshes Gemini for Android with a major interface update centered around clarity, ease of use and giving more visual control to the creators. The latest rollout brings a redesigned homepage, deeper dark theme and a new user-generated content hub.

The update has a gradual rollout, but very early impressions do show Google trying to position Gemini as a more polished, self-contained creative environment.

Google Gemini: More Structured Homepage

Now, the homepage simply asks, “Where should we start?” Below that, Google sets a row of task prompts that range from image generation to deep research tools.

The slightly larger Gemini logo and cleaner layout create a sense of order in the app. It is a small change, but it makes it easier for new users to get their bearings.

Google Gemini: True Black Dark Mode

The introduction of dark mode has been a long-asked enhancement, and Google has finally driven the background to a fuller and  richer black. The input bar and the conversation panels have retained their old shades, creating a nice dual-shade effect. The light theme has also softened to a gentle blue-gray tint that cools the interface.

What is the New ‘My Stuff’ Hub

A new section, “My Stuff,” now appears in the chat drawer. This space brings together everything a user creates through Gemini images, videos and Canvas projects. Joining the existing Gems and Chats tabs, it offers quick access to the last three creations in small preview bubbles. For users who depend on Gemini’s creative tools and this hub adds long-needed organization.

How the ‘My Stuff’ Hub Works

  • Collects all your creations in one place including images, videos and Canvas projects generated through Gemini.
  • Accessible from the chat drawer alongside sections like Gems and Chats.
  • Displays your three most recent creations in rounded preview cards for quick access.
  • It lets you open, review or reuse creations directly from the hub without searching through old chats.
  • Helps organise your AI outputs making it easier to manage content across tasks or projects.
  • Syncs with your account, so your saved items remain available across devices linked to the same Google profile.

Smarter Conversation Controls

Inside conversations, Google has removed the account switcher from the corner and added a dedicated button for starting new chats. Now, the conversation title works as an actions dropdown for sharing, pinning, renaming or deleting a thread many of these shortcuts were hidden and are now easier to get to.

Reference Image Guided Video Generation

The update also brings a robust new video creation tool. Users can upload up to three reference images to help Gemini’s Veo model keep consistent characters, lighting and style across scenes.

The app now displays the exact model being used Veo 3.1 – in the updated Tools menu. The feature will be fully available to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers next week.
