The Flipkart Big Billion Days (BBD) sale has caused frustration among buyers. Reports have emerged that iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro orders were being cancelled just hours after being placed. Many customers said even fully paid orders were rejected. This has led several people to call it a “Flipkart scam.”

Discounts Spark Rush

Flipkart listed the iPhone 16 (128GB) at Rs 51,999 and the iPhone 16 Pro (128GB) at Rs 69,999. These offers were available first for Flipkart Plus members on September 22. The sale then opened to all users on September 23.

A surge of orders was caused by the reduced prices. Many consumers viewed this as an opportunity to get Apple’s most recent phones at a lower price.

Orders Cancelled Despite Payment

The excitement quickly turned into anger. Several buyers reported that their orders were cancelled just hours after they were successfully paid for.

On X, one user wrote:

“I’ve placed 3 full-paid orders on Flipkart, only to have them rejected and cancelled within 4 hours. This feels like a scam!”

Another buyer tweeted:

“@flipkartsupport @Flipkart Looks like you are making fool of customers, my orders for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro were placed successfully during the start of BBD sale and this morning you cancelled both without any reason, what type of scam is this?”

Refunds &  Delivery Confusion

Customers whose orders were cancelled are now waiting for refunds. Some customers have been informed by Flipkart that their funds will be reimbursed, but the exact dates are unclear. At the same time, a few Plus members complained that even though their phones had been shipped, they had not yet gotten them.

This inconsistency has raised questions about the transparency of the sale and whether the discounts advertised were real.

Flipkart Remains Silent

Regarding the cancelled orders and reimbursement delays, Flipkart has not yet released any official statement. Complaints, scam claims, and disgruntled customers abound on social media.

Trust in E-commerce at Stake

Experts warn that situations like this could make consumers less trusting of internet flash deals. Customers may avoid participating in future sales if refund procedures are unclear and orders are abruptly cancelled.

To avoid such issues, experts advise large platforms like Flipkart to enhance communication and inventory management.  The incident also highlights a flaw in the safeguards in place for online consumers. Many customers are left with limited choices when their orders are abruptly cancelled.
