Canon has unveiled the EOS R6 Mark III, the latest model in its popular R6 line. The new camera builds on the features that made previous versions popular with hybrid shooters and videographers. It adds a larger 32.5MP full-frame sensor, enhanced video recording, and improved performance for both photography and filmmaking.

The R6 Mark III aims to deliver a high-performance all-around solution for content creators who need speed, flexibility, and advanced imaging capabilities in one camera.

Canon EOS R6 Mark III: New 32.5MP Sensor and Improved Imaging

The biggest upgrade in the EOS R6 Mark III is its 32.5MP full-frame CMOS sensor, which pairs with Canon’s DIGIC X processor. This sensor provides a 34% increase in resolution over the previous model. It allows sharper images, higher print resolution, and better cropping flexibility.

The camera also includes 8.5-stop 5-axis image stabilization, ensuring stable shots even in challenging conditions. Its autofocus system, Dual Pixel CMOS AF II, comes with Register People Priority, making it easier to track human subjects for both stills and video.

Canon EOS R6 Mark III: Advanced Video Capabilities

Canon has focused on video performance with the R6 Mark III. The camera can record 7K/60p 12-bit RAW Light video internally, while external recording via optional devices allows 7K/30p ProRes RAW footage.

The Open Gate 7K 30p mode provides a larger frame area for cropping or vertical video formats. For slow-motion enthusiasts, the camera supports 4K recording at up to 119.8p, allowing 5x slow-motion playback in a 23.98p timeline.

Canon also offers custom picture profiles and LUT options for more advanced color control during post-production.

Canon EOS R6 Mark III: High-Speed Shooting and Design Features

The EOS R6 Mark III supports up to 40fps in electronic shutter mode and 12fps with the mechanical shutter. It includes Pre-Continuous Shoot Mode for capturing fast action reliably.

Design updates include a 3.69m-dot OLED EVF with OVF View Assist and a 3-inch 1.62m-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD for better handling and flexible shooting angles.

The camera now accepts both CFexpress Type B and SD UHS-II cards, improving storage flexibility for professionals and content creators. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and a multi-function shoe for additional accessories.

Canon EOS R6 Mark III: Price and Availability

The Canon EOS R6 Mark III is priced at $2,799 (body only). Preorders are open now, and shipping is expected to start by the end of the month.

This new model continues Canon’s focus on hybrid photographers and videographers, offering high-resolution imaging, fast shooting speeds, and advanced video features in one versatile package.

With its combination of 32.5MP sensor, 7K video recording, improved autofocus, and high-speed burst capabilities, the R6 Mark III positions itself as a strong option for professional photographers, content creators, and hybrid shooters looking for a full-frame mirrorless camera in 2025.
