Apple may be planning a major design overhaul for its upcoming iPhone lineup, including a completely bezel-free model in 2027 and a foldable “iPhone Flip” by 2028.
According to a new industry leak from South Korea, Apple’s roadmap suggests the next few years could mark a historic shift in the company’s smartphone evolution — with flexible OLED technology and under-display Face ID.
Apple’s Future: Foldable & Bezel-Less iPhones Ahead
If the reports are accurate, Apple is gearing up for its biggest leap in design innovation since the original iPhone’s debut. The company is said to be working on a foldable iPhone (possibly called iPhone Fold) and a bezel-less iPhone that eliminates all visible borders and notches.
While Apple has yet to confirm these developments, the leaks have generated huge excitement among tech fans and analysts who believe the next iPhone generations could blur the line between smartphones, tablets, and futuristic devices.
When will the Foldable iPhone Fold Arrive?
Apple’s first foldable device, iPhone Fold, is now rumoured to launch by late 2026. The device will reportedly feature a book-like design with an LTPO+ flexible OLED panel similar in size to an iPad Mini.
The report also claims Apple is working on a glass mid-frame structure to reduce screen wrinkles — a common issue in foldable phones. If successful, this could give Apple a clear advantage over Samsung, Google, and Oppo, which already dominate the foldable smartphone space.
With Apple’s entry into foldables, the premium smartphone market may soon witness a new wave of innovation and design competition.
iPhone 20: Bezel-Less Design
The 2027 iPhone model, possibly the iPhone 20, could celebrate the brand’s 20th anniversary with a truly bezel-free design. According to the leak, Apple plans to use a four-edge bending OLED display and introduce a Crater Diffusion Layer for improved brightness and colour uniformity.
It may also feature an under-display Face ID system, removing any visible notch or punch hole — creating a seamless, edge-to-edge screen experience. This design could be Apple’s biggest display innovation since the Super Retina display.
iPhone Flip: Compact and Stylish in 2028
By 2028, Apple is reportedly developing a clamshell-style iPhone Flip, a smaller foldable device aimed at portability and fashion-conscious users. The Flip model could include a compact external screen for quick access to notifications, AI-powered shortcuts, and curved edges for a modern aesthetic.
While the company has not officially confirmed any of these projects, Apple’s consistent focus on design evolution and user experience hints that these ideas may not be far from reality.
