Apple may release a new iPhone 17 accessory called the Crossbody Strap. This magnetic strap aims to help customers carry their iPhones securely by giving the iPhone the feel of a professional camera.
These leaks suggest it will be easy to put on and take off, work with the AirPods Pro 3, and might be helpful for photographers.
Leak Comes From Case Packaging
The first hint of the Crossbody Strap came when leaker Majin Bu shared photos of cloned iPhone 17 case boxes. The packaging mentioned a new accessory called the Crossbody Strap. Now, Majin Bu has shared more details and photos showing what it could look like.
The images are from knockoff manufacturers, not Apple, but they often resemble the real product closely.

Magnetic Design Instead of Hooks
Unlike normal lanyards, the Crossbody Strap uses magnets.
“The Crossbody Strap features an innovative magnetic system, crafted to integrate seamlessly with iPhone 17 cases,” Majin Bu said. The strap reportedly has a flexible metal core that is magnetic along its length. Rings at the ends hold it firmly, allowing users to attach and remove it without hooks or loops.
The strap may also work with the AirPods Pro 3 case, which is expected to get a new design similar to the AirPods 4 charging case.
Perfect for Photography Lovers
Apple has been positioning the iPhone as a camera-focused device. Last year, it added a Camera Control button to make photography easier. The Crossbody Strap could make it safer to carry the phone while shooting, like point-and-shoot cameras that come with lanyards.

Apple previously experimented with a built-in lanyard on the iPod touch, but it was later removed. The new magnetic strap could be easier and faster to use, though some may worry about its durability.
What to Expect on Launch Day?
Apple will reveal the iPhone 17 lineup on September 9 at its “Awe-dropping” event in California. This is when we will see if the Crossbody Strap is real and how well it works in practice.
If it launches, the iPhone 17 could be more than a smartphone. It may become a camera-friendly device designed for convenience, safety, and better photography experiences. Whether the magnetic strap will be a success or a risk remains to be seen.
