Apple has officially launched its iPhone 17 lineup, introducing the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, the standard iPhone 17, and the all-new iPhone Air. The event, streamed live on Apple’s website and YouTube channel, showcased a series of upgrades aimed at performance, photography, and battery life.
Bold New Camera Design
The iPhone 17 Pro models feature a dramatic redesign of the rear camera module, now stretching fully across the back of the phone. Both the Pro and Pro Max include triple 48-megapixel cameras, a significant jump from last year’s 12-megapixel telephoto lens. The telephoto lens now boasts a 56% larger sensor, delivering up to 8x optical quality zoom, enhancing detail and clarity for photos and videos.
Display and Build Upgrades
Apple has returned to an all-aluminium body for the Pro models, with a scratch-resistant Ceramic Shield on both front and back. Despite the redesign, the 6.3-inch Pro and 6.9-inch Pro Max maintain similar dimensions to the iPhone 16 series. Screens support ProMotion technology, offering refresh rates up to 120Hz for smoother scrolling and gaming experiences.
Powerful Performance
Under the hood, both Pro models are powered by the A19 Pro chip, a 3nm processor with a six-core CPU and five-core GPU, which Apple claims is the fastest in any smartphone. Along with improved efficiency, the chipset ensures seamless multitasking and high-performance gaming.

Record-Breaking Battery Life
The iPhone 17 Pro series also features Apple’s largest-ever battery in an iPhone. The Pro Max delivers up to 39 hours of video playback, while the standard Pro model offers slightly less. However, this battery performance is optimized for eSIM-only versions, with models using a physical SIM seeing about two hours less usage.
Colours and Availability
The new Pro models come in three striking colours: silver, blue, and a vibrant orange that stands out from previous models. Prices start at $1,099 for the Pro and $1,199 for the Pro Max, both offering 256GB of storage.
