Hyderabad:
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy congratulated the team of doctors and medical professionals at NIMS for reaching this remarkable milestone and for their dedicated service in saving the lives of patients suffering from severe kidney ailments. He praised the institution for its commitment to delivering quality healthcare and making advanced treatment accessible to economically weaker sections.
According to official details, the Department of Urology at NIMS has now emerged as the leading institution in South India in kidney transplant surgeries. Nationally, NIMS has secured the third position after the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) in Gujarat and Christian Medical College in Ludhiana, both of which have been among the country’s top centres for kidney transplantation.
The achievement becomes even more significant considering the institution’s emphasis on affordable healthcare. Of the 2,000 patients who underwent kidney transplantation, nearly 1,900 patients accounting for 95 percent received treatment free of cost under the Rajiv Aarogyasri Scheme and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
NIMS had earlier set another impressive record by performing 500 kidney transplants within just three years and four months, beginning from January 2023. The latest milestone reflects the institute’s rapid growth, medical excellence, and commitment to providing world-class healthcare services.
The Chief Minister hailed the accomplishment as a proud moment for Telangana and expressed confidence that NIMS would continue setting new standards in patient care and medical innovation in the years ahead.
