CHANDIGARH: Fulfilling its promise of free healthcare, the Punjab Government has launched the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana’. As part of this initiative, registration of beneficiaries commenced today across Punjab under the guidance of Cabinet Ministers.
Leading the registration drive at Sunam Udham Singh Wala, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora stated that with the launch of this scheme, every family in Punjab will be entitled to free treatment up to Rs 10 lakh.
Under the scheme, all medicines and tests for major and minor illnesses up to Rs 10 lakh will be free. Upon hospital admission, everything becomes cashless—patients need only present their health card. Punjab has approximately 65 lakh families, said the Minister adding health cards will be issued to all 65 lakh families favouring nearly three crore citizens. For the first time, no income limit has been set for eligibility, setting a new national example.
