How Was Rekha Gupta Attacked?

The shocking incident took place at Rekha Gupta’s residence during her Jan Sunvai (public hearing). A man came forward to hand over a paper, likely related to his grievance. Suddenly, he pulled the CM, causing her to hit her head on a table and injure herself.

The attacker was quickly caught. He has been identified as Rajesh Khimji Sakriya, 41, from Rajkot, Gujarat. Delhi Police confirmed that he is being questioned.

“A person attacked CM Rekha Gupta during Jan Sunvai today. The Delhi Police have nabbed the accused and are questioning,” the Delhi CMO said.

Why Did He Attack the CM?

According to police and media reports, the attacker was upset about a recent Supreme Court ruling on stray dogs. His mother, Bhanuben, told the media that her son was an animal lover and reacted strongly to the court’s decision.

“My son loves dogs. He was angry after the Supreme Court’s order against stray dogs. And left for Delhi soon after. We don’t know anything else,” she said.

She also revealed that her son suffered from mental health issues and had attacked family members in the past.
