A dramatic scene unfolded during a motorcycle rally in Bihar’s Araria district as part of the Voter Adhikar Yatra. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was riding alongside RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav when an overenthusiastic supporter rushed in and planted a kiss on Gandhi’s cheek. Security personnel quickly intervened, escorting the man away with a firm slap.
This moment quickly went viral after being captured on video, reflecting both the intense public enthusiasm—and the need for tighter security measures during political events.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra Moves Through Bihar
The incident occurred during a sweeping political outreach march launched on August 17 from Sasaram. This 16-day, 1,300 km-long Yatra aims to safeguard electoral rights and protest alleged “vote theft” in Bihar. It includes a range of outreach methods—motorcycles, rallies, and public speeches across more than 20 districts―and will conclude with a grand rally in Patna on September 1.
That one Red shirt guy came and Kissed RG on cheeks.

During the Yatra, Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly highlighted concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar and accused the BJP of collaborating with the Election Commission to suppress voter voices.
Political Strategy Beyond the Kiss
Far more than a viral moment, the incident underscores the balancing act required in modern political outreach—between accessibility and security. The spontaneity of the kiss may have been rooted in excitement, but it also exposed vulnerabilities.
Meanwhile, the Yatra continues to gain momentum with socialist slogans like “Vote Chor Gaddi Chhodd” taking center stage. Despite stalls or controversies, the opposition remains united under the INDIA bloc.
