Vote counting began at 8 AM on 3 December for 12 vacant wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). These wards went to the polls on 30 November, with a turnout of just 38.51%. The low participation marked a dip compared with earlier elections, but counting proceeded smoothly under tight security across ten counting centres.
By midday, clear patterns emerged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reclaimed its dominance, securing seven wards, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Indian National Congress each won seats. Aam Aadmi Party's candidate Anil wins the Mundka ward in the MCD bypolls by 1,577 votes.

BJP’s Anjum Mandal Gupta wins Greater Kailash with a margin of 4,065 votes.
BJP’s Sarla Chaudhary wins Vinod Nagar with a margin of 1,769 votes.
The turnout brought special attention to wards like Shalimar Bagh B ward and Greater Kailash ward. In Shalimar Bagh B, BJP’s Anita Jain won decisively with 16,843 votes, registering a comfortable margin. The win cements the BJP’s hold in northwest Delhi at a time when civic issues are under scrutiny.
Greater Kailash also saw a BJP win, with candidate Anjum Mandal securing victory by 4,065 votes. These wins reinforce the party’s grassroots strength and organisational reach across diverse wards.
Though the BJP dominated overall, the bypolls also offered wins for other parties. AAP’s Ram Swaroop Kanojia claimed the seat in Dakshin Puri ward, showing the party retains pockets of voter support amid mixed results.
Meanwhile, Congress’s Suresh Chaudhary won in Sangam Vihar A ward with 12,766 votes — a sign that voters in some areas still turn to national opposition parties for local representation.
