Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge was admitted to MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru on Wednesday for treatment, ANI reported. The 83-year-old leader developed a fever and complained of leg pain on Tuesday.
“The leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha was taken to the hospital on Tuesday as he developed a fever and complained of leg pain. He is fine, nothing to worry about. Doctors are monitoring,” a Congress leader told PTI.
Recent Political Engagements
Kharge attended an extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Patna, Bihar, on September 24. Despite his health issues, the Congress president is scheduled to address a public rally in Kohima, Nagaland, on October 7.

Kohima Rally Details
The rally, themed “Safe Democracy, Safe Secularism, and Safe Nagaland,” is expected to attract at least 10,000 people. It will focus on key issues such as youth employment, entrepreneurship, good governance, and road connectivity.
The event will also feature separate meetings with senior members of the Congress Political Affairs Committee, Pro-Committee, and District Congress Committee presidents.
Significance of the Rally
According to Congress MP Jamir, the rally is more than a party event. It is a platform to highlight the challenges facing Nagaland and the Northeast region. He urged citizens, especially minorities, to participate and voice their concerns, which will be taken up by regional leaders.
Kharge will be accompanied by national leaders, including Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal and Nagaland in-charge MP Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka.
