Congress on Thursday announced that it will soon launch nationwide campaign in which all party leaders and workers will be on ground against the price rise, inflation, unemployment, paper leaks that has put the future of students in danger among other important issues for which schedule will be announced in coming days. Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of ruining the lives of students, people of the country.
The party also condemned the way in which the nomination papers of Congress Madhya Pradesh candidate Meenakshi Natrajan was rejected and in contrary the nomination of Jharkhand BJP sponsored corporate candidate was accepted.
The decision was taken at the meeting of the general secretaries, state incharges and state presidents at the party headquarters, which was chaiter by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, and also attended by Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
Sources said that during the meeting, Rahul Gandhi targeted the government over the paper leaks and inflation which has ruined the lives of students as well as broken the back of the common people.
While addressing a press conference after the three hour long meeting, Congress General Secretary (Organisation) KC Venugopal said that the leaders discussed the issue in Madhya Pradesh regarding the rejection of Natarajan ji’s nomination.
*The reason given was that she did not disclose a notice sent by a court. There was no criminal case, no FIR, and no chargesheet against her, yet her nomination was still rejected,” he argued.
Taking a pot shot at the BJP, he said, “On the other hand, in Jharkhand, the BJP-sponsored corporate candidate (Parimal Nathwani) did not even mention his name properly in the relevant column, but the Returning Officer accepted the nomination.”
Taking a swipe, he said, “On one side, you rejected the nomination of Meenakshi Natarajan ji in Madhya Pradesh, and on the other, you accepted a nomination with so many discrepancies in the nomination paper. This shows the pathetic condition of Indian democracy. After vote chori, this is now seat chori.”
He then said that during the meeting the party decide to fight this out legally and politically.
He also said that meeting discussed the current political scenario in the country, particularly the economic crisis.
“Petrol, diesel, and LPG prices are increasing day by day. People are in severe distress, but the government has taken no action. Unemployment is at its peak. The entire MSME sector has been completely destroyed. Youth are very worried about their future. There is no employment. Students are in a very dangerous situation because of the NEET and CBSE exam issues. The government is taking no moral responsibility for any of these issues. How much longer will we have to demand the resignation of the Education Minister?” Venugopal said
He said that the situation in the country is so dangerous that on one side democracy is not there and on the other, common people are struggling for their livelihood.
Venugopal announced that the party is going to launch a “national campaign” across India.
“This will not be only at the national level, but also at the state, district, and block levels. Wherever people are facing difficulties, the Congress party will go there, share their sentiments, and fight for them,” he said, adding, “Not only through traditional forms of agitation, we will go to the people who are suffering, to those who are in pain. We will try to share their pain and carry their voice to the national level through maximum agitation.”
“Every Congress leader and worker should be out on the streets. We will chalk out the details of the program in the next two to five days,” he added.
