Says migrant workers, tribals, women and minorities could face difficulties during voter verification process.

Speaking at Gandhi Bhavan, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy asked Congress leaders and party cadres to intensify awareness campaigns on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, warning that the exercise could create difficulties for several vulnerable sections of society if not handled carefully.

The Chief Minister said it was encouraging that party leaders had begun understanding the possible impact of the SIR process on common people, the poor and Congress workers. He expressed concern that Lambadas, Adivasis and migrant labourers could face major problems during the verification process, particularly in constituencies that have witnessed large-scale migration.

Revanth Reddy observed that women, Dalits and minorities were also at risk of losing their votes during the exercise if proper monitoring mechanisms were not put in place. He stressed the need for the party to develop complete awareness about the issues arising out of SIR and find effective solutions at the grassroots level.

Highlighting the Congress party’s earlier organisational success, the Chief Minister recalled that nearly 45 lakh digital memberships were completed within 90 days with the help of booth enrollers. He said those who achieved the highest membership registrations were honoured by Rahul Gandhi. Revanth Reddy suggested that the same experienced enrollers should now be utilised effectively for the SIR exercise.

He directed the party leadership to appoint in-charges for all 119 Assembly constituencies and 17 Lok Sabha segments to supervise the process. Assembly in-charges, he said, must remain active within their constituencies and ensure that not even a single genuine vote is deleted.

The Chief Minister also instructed ministers to dedicate one full day every 10 days exclusively for party activities and interact directly with grassroots workers. He announced that he too would meet party cadres regularly and reserve three days every month for organisational work.

Revanth Reddy made it clear that ministers, MLAs, MPs, MLCs and corporation chairpersons must actively participate in party programmes without exception. He also called for coordination among all leaders and stressed that senior leaders visiting the field would motivate cadres to work effectively at the booth level.

He further proposed constituency-wise meetings on SIR across Hyderabad’s 15 Assembly segments and asked the Mahila Congress to organise cluster-level awareness meetings on the issue.
