Telangana BJP State President N. Ramchander Rao on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Congress and BRS while addressing the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Prashikshan Abhiyan in Suryapet, accusing the Congress of indulging in vote-bank politics and failing farmers across the state.
Addressing BJP workers who attended the training programme despite intense summer heat, Ramchander Rao said the initiative was aimed at strengthening the party’s ideology, discipline, organisational structure and spirit of service. He described the BJP as “not merely a political party, but a movement built on the principles of Nation First and Seva.”
Recalling the BJP’s early struggles, he said party workers once travelled from village to village on bicycles to build the organisation when the BJP had only two seats nationally. “People mocked us and asked what BJP was. Today, because of the sacrifice and dedication of karyakartas, the BJP is ruling the country,” he said.
Claiming that the BJP has emerged as a strong force in Telangana with eight MPs and eight MLAs, he expressed confidence that the party would form the next government in the state. He alleged that both the BRS and Congress had failed Telangana and said people were now looking towards a “double-engine BJP government” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Targeting the Congress government over paddy procurement delays, Ramchander Rao alleged that farmers in Suryapet and neighbouring districts were suffering due to administrative negligence. He said the BJP’s “Rythu Gosa-BJP Bharosa Yatra” forced the government to respond to the issue. He demanded immediate procurement of every grain from farmers and accused the state government of forcing cultivators to sell produce below the Minimum Support Price.
The BJP leader also highlighted various Central projects in Telangana, including highway expansion, free rice distribution, the Ramagundam Fertilizer Factory revival, Warangal airport development and industrial growth in Zaheerabad.
In a political swipe at Congress, he said the party had begun invoking the name of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N.T. Rama Rao only to attract Andhra-origin voters in the upcoming GHMC elections. “Congress has no moral right to speak about NTR Garu. He entered politics after Congress insulted Telugu self-respect and was among the first to call for a Congress-mukt Bharat,” he said.
Ramchander Rao further accused the Congress of hypocrisy on OBC politics, claiming the party removed its only OBC Chief Minister while continuing to project itself as pro-OBC. He concluded by urging BJP workers to take the message of “development, good governance and corruption-free administration” to every household in Telangana.
