The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) released its first list of 71 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections. The list includes several prominent leaders, including outgoing deputy chief ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, who will contest from Tarapur and Lakhisarai constituencies, respectively.

Nand Kishore Yadav Dropped, Ratnesh Kushwaha to Contest from Patna Sahib

The list also confirms that senior BJP leader Nand Kishore Yadav has been dropped from Patna Sahib, with Ratnesh Kushwaha replacing him as the party’s candidate. Other key names on the list include:

BJP to Contest 101 Seats Under NDA Seat-Sharing Agreement

The 243-seat Bihar Assembly will go to polls in two phases — November 6 and November 11, with results to be declared on November 14.

On Sunday, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) finalised its seat-sharing formula for the elections. Under the agreement, both the BJP and the Janata Dal (United) will contest 101 seats each, while Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has been allotted 29 seats.

The BJP has announced candidates for 71 out of its 101 seats, while the remaining names are expected in the second list. The announcement signals the party’s readiness to take on the upcoming elections with its core leadership and new faces.
