Tension gripped Lakhisarai on Thursday as Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha’s convoy came under attack during the first phase of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. Stones and slippers were thrown at his convoy when he entered Khoriari village, sparking chaos and strong reactions.

The incident took place while polling was underway in several constituencies across Bihar, including Lakhisarai, where Sinha is contesting as the BJP candidate. Videos from the spot showed angry locals chanting slogans and trying to block his convoy.

Protesters Throw Stones and Chant Slogans

According to reports from news agency ANI, the clash occurred as Vijay Sinha’s convoy was entering Khoriari village. A group of people reportedly pelted stones and hurled slippers at his vehicles, preventing the convoy from moving forward. Some in the crowd were also heard shouting “Murdabad” slogans.

Eyewitnesses said that the situation turned tense as police and security personnel tried to control the mob and ensure the safety of the Deputy Chief Minister.

Vijay Sinha Blames RJD for the Attack

Speaking to the media at the spot, Vijay Sinha accused workers of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) of orchestrating the attack. He claimed that the violence was politically motivated and aimed at stopping him from visiting polling booths in the area.

“These are the goons of RJD. Satta mein aa rahi hai NDA isliye inke chhati pe bulldozer chalega. The goons are not letting me visit the village. Vijay Sinha is going to win... They turned away my polling agent and did not let him vote. Look at their hooliganism. These are the 404 and 405 booth numbers of Khoriari village,” Sinha said.

He further alleged that his polling agent was prevented from voting and that the attackers were trying to disrupt the democratic process.

Locals Cite Poor Roads as Reason for Protest

A video from the site showed locals chanting slogans against Vijay Sinha and pointing toward the poor road conditions in their area. Some villagers claimed that they were protesting to highlight the lack of development, not to support any political party.

People were seen shouting and holding up their slippers as they accused leaders of neglecting their region despite repeated promises. The video quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread reactions.

Police Step In as Situation Escalates

Security personnel accompanying the Deputy CM intervened immediately to disperse the crowd and secure the area. No injuries were reported at the time of writing, but the incident caused a temporary disruption in polling activity around the Khoriari booths.

Authorities have yet to confirm whether any arrests have been made in connection with the attack.

Polling Underway in First Phase of Bihar Elections

The first phase of the Bihar Assembly Election 2025 began on Thursday morning, covering several districts, including Lakhisarai. Voters turned out early despite sporadic incidents of tension.

The remaining constituencies will vote on November 11, and the results will be declared on November 14.

The Lakhisarai incident has sparked sharp political reactions, with the BJP calling it an act of intimidation and the opposition demanding a fair probe. As voting continues, the attack on Vijay Sinha’s convoy has added a fresh flashpoint to an already heated Bihar election season.
