Independent MP from Purnea, Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, has intensified his campaign against the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC). He has called for a statewide bandh on January 1, 2025, if the 70th Combined Competitive Preliminary Examination (CCE Prelims) is not canceled.

The protests erupted following allegations of paper leaks and other irregularities in the exam conducted by BPSC. Aspirants demand the cancellation of the entire exam and a fair re-test for all candidates.
BPSC Chairman’s Response
BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai dismissed the demand for a complete cancellation. However, he announced a re-examination on January 4, 2025, for candidates who appeared at the Bapu Pariksha Parisar center in Patna.
Police Action Against Protesters
The Bihar Police resorted to a lathi charge on students protesting in Patna. The police stated that only mild force was used to disperse the gathering and denied reports of injuries.
“Some teachers are instigating these students, both directly and indirectly, and several social media handles are misleading them,” said DSP Anu Kumari.

Government’s Defense
The administration defended its actions, claiming the protests disrupted public order.
- “Protesters surrounded the commission’s office without permission, causing inconvenience,” said DSP Anu Kumari.
