Ahead of the Assembly elections in West Bengal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has hardened its stand against the ruling Trinamool Congress, with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday saying that there’s a wave of change in the state and that the Mamata Banerjee-led party will be wiped out when the poll results are announced on 2 May.

Q: The main motto of the BJP in West Bengal is ‘parivartan’ (change). Do you see any changes brought by the BJP in the state?

A: A wave of change is going on in West Bengal for sure. You all know that the BJP got more than 40% votes in the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, which nobody had ever imagined of. Now I see the love in the eyes of the public for BJP, for Modiji. Mamata didi has ruined Bengal with ‘cut-money, tolabaazi, commission-khori’. The aunt-nephew duo is exploiting the public together. The TMC has eaten even the ration for poor citizens. The storm relief funds for victims were never distributed – it all went to their party’s relief. TMC has pushed them (common people) into the fire of violence. They are not allowed to take advantage of any scheme of the Centre—the Prime Minister Kisan Saman Nidhi Yojana was not allowed by her to be given to the citizens of Bengal. Many such schemes are not provided by her, which is why no one likes Mamata didi. Hence, people are standing with the BJP to support it.

Q: CM Mamata Banerjee is saying that the election in Bengal is happening in eight phases because the Election Commission of India is working in BJP›s favour.

A: Mamata Didi is making excuses out of fear of defeat. She is scared, fidgeting, upset. The pit dug by her is collapsing and the truth of her party is being revealed. Do Mai, Didi gayi, BJP aayi—on 2 May, when the results of the Assembly elections will be out, Mamata Banerjee will be wiped off and the BJP will come to rule.

Q: Law and order is an issue in Bengal as we saw a very violent situation when J.P. Nadda visited the state to launch ‘Lokkho Sonar Bangla’ and was attacked by TMC workers. What is your reaction to this situation?

A: TMC is known as “Todo, Maaro, Caato” (break, kill and slaughter). They have been renowned for their violence for quite a few years now, but their violence is not going to frighten the voters or the workers of the BJP. The miscreants of the TMC won’t be seen on the day of the vote, law and order will make things secure and tighten its grip over these punks, and voters will vote in a carefree situation, eradicating violence and teaching TMC a lesson.
