Karnataka | Kolar: A 28-year-old woman was stabbed to death in full public view by her boyfriend at a bus station in Kolar on Thursday.
Deceased identified as Sujatha worked as a nurse at a private hospital while her boyfriend Chiranjeevi worked as a finance agent on Kolar town according to police.
The incident occurred around 8am at the bus depot in Kolar town on Thursday when Chiranjeevi pulled out a knife he had brought along with him and stabbed Sujatha in the busy bus stand.
Sujatha was killed instantly due to profuse bleeding as her boyfriend her stabbed her on the neck. Bystanders then managed to nab Chiranjeevi and gave him a sound thrashing before handing him over to the police.
Preliminary inquires revealed that the two had known each other for a year as Sujatha had approached Chiranjeevi for a loan. They then became friends and later were in a relationship according to the police.
Since a month ago, Sujatha distanced herself from Chiranjeevi for unknown reasons. Unable to bear with her avoiding him, Chiranjeevi started quarelling with her over phone and there were several instances of arguments between them.
On Thursday, Chiranjeevi decided to kill her if she still wants to avoid him, police sources said.
The Kolar town police have arrested the accused and have taken him into custody for further questioning.
