A suspect from Darbhanga, Bihar, was arrested late on Wednesday in relation to threats made over the phone to blow up the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, as well as to assassinate tycoon Mukesh Ambani, his wife Neeta, son Akash, and their home Antilia. The calls, which came from a hospital landline, caused police to step up security near Antilia.

The suspects were travelling to Mumbai with a police squad, according to deputy police commissioner Neelotpal. People with knowledge of the situation claimed that the subject, whose name was not immediately obvious, was apprehended with the assistance of Bihar Police hours after the calls were made.

One of the threatening calls came from a mobile number and lasted for four to five minutes. A similar call was made to the hospital in August, and the 56-year-old jeweller Vishnu Vidhu Bhaumik was identified as the caller.

Based on information provided by central intelligence agencies regarding danger perception, the Center raised Mukesh Ambani’s security cover from the top “Z+” category to “Z” in September.

Ambani received the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF”Z” )’s category cover on a payment basis in 2013. Additionally, Nita Ambani has Y+ category CRPF security coverage.

A protectee under the Z+ category cover is given three shifts of around 50 armed commandos from the paramilitary force.

An explosive-packed automobile was discovered parked outside Antilia last February. Later, Sachin Waze, a police officer in Mumbai at the time, was detained for allegedly planting it.
