Maharashtra now has more Covid-19 cases than Spain

India recorded 37,148 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing its tally to 11,55,191. The country recorded 587 deaths linked to the deadly virus. A total of 28,084 Covid-19 linked deaths have been recorded so far. More than 7.2 lakh patients have recovered so far. Thus, 62.72% of people have recovered so far.

Maharashtra continued to be worst hit, with the state reporting 8,369 new coronavirus cases and 246 deaths in last 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in the state stands at 3,27,031, including 1,82,217 recoveries and 1,32,236 active cases. With this, Maharashtra now has more Covid cases than Spain!

Meanwhile, Mumbai’s tally of Covid-19 cases reached 1.03 lakh with addition of 995 new Covid-19 positive cases, 905 patients got discharged and 62 deaths was recorded in last 24 hours which took the death toll increased to 5,752.

Delhi recorded 1,349 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, taking the tally in the city to over 1.25 lakh, while the death toll mounted to 3,690 and the total number of cases mounted to 1,25,096. Twenty-seven fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases stood at 15,288. Dr Sujeet Kumar Singh, Director, National Centre for Disease Control on Tuesday stated about the findings gathered by the sero surveillance conducted in Delhi. He said, “Sero surveillance was done in Delhi to estimate the prevalence of Covid-19 among the general community of Delhi. Nearly six months into the pandemic, 22.86% people are affected and 77% of the population is susceptible”.

Gujarat recorded a highest one-day spike of 1,026 new cases and deaths of 34 Covid-19 positive patients in last 24 hours. The state death toll is now at 2,201. Gujarat carried out 13,693 tests in 24 hours to find new cases, taking the total to 5.62 lakh.

 Tamil Nadu recorded 4,965 new Covid-19 cases and 75 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking active cases to 51,344 and death toll to 2,626. Meanwhile, Kerala reported 720 fresh cases of coronavirus cases in last 24 hours, taking the number of infected people in the state to 13,994, while 1,62,444 people are under observation in the state. Of the new cases, 528 were infected from their contacts.

Karnataka reported 3,649 new coronavirus cases and 61 deaths in last twenty-four hours. Total positive cases in the state stand at 71,069 and the death toll is at 1,464. There are 44,140 active cases.

The death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 1,229 after the state reported 37 fatalities. With as many as 2,128 fresh coronavirus cases, the state’s infection tally reached 53,288. The total number of active coronavirus cases in the state stands at 20,204. Till now, as many as 31,855 Covid-19 patients have recovered from the viral disease.

Haryana recorded highest ever number of recovered patients, In the last 24 hours 726 patients recovered and returned home. The recovery rate now stands beyond 76%. However, with 604 new coronavirus cases recorded, the number of infected reached to 27,462 out of which 6,146 cases are active currently in state. Nine patients lost the battle against the deadly virus in the last 24 hours. 

West Bengal recorded a new high of 2,282 Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours, pushing the tally in the state to 44,769. At least 35 people succumbed to the infection, raising the death toll to 1,147. However, 1,535 people have been discharged from hospitals, taking the total number of recovered people so far to 26,418. The Covid-19 recovery rate in the state is 59.01%.
