The postponement of Smriti Mandhana's wedding has shifted the gears from celebration to concern. The star Indian batter was supposed to marry music composer Palash Muchhal in Sangli on November 23, 2025, but plans were paused after her father Shriniwas Mandhana faced a sudden health emergency. The family has stepped away from festivities to support him through this critical phase.
Shriniwas has long been a steady influence in Smriti's life Before being dubbed the father of one of India's finest woman cricketers, he was a district-level player from Sangli with an astute understanding of the game. His early fascination with cricket shaped the environment his children grew up in.
Though not much has been highlighted about his formal education, family insiders commonly refer to him as someone who is disciplined, detail-oriented and deeply committed to learning qualities that guided his business and his children’s training.
Shriniwas had built his professional life as a chemical distributor in the textile sector. Balancing long workdays with his children’s practice sessions created opportunities where none existed locally. When facilities were unavailable in Sangli, he used his savings to build a concrete pitch in their backyard to ensure that Smriti and her brother never missed a day of training.
Shriniwas played cricket at the district level for Sangli, harbouring dreams of pursuing the game more seriously.
Shriniwas is married to Smita Mandhana, who is an important cog in this cricketing journey of the family. If he handled training and logistics, she ensured nutrition, routine and emotional support.
The couple has two children Shravan, a former state-level fast bowler who runs a cafE in Sangli and Smriti, whose rise to international cricket fulfilled the dream Shriniwas once had for himself.
Shriniwas draws much of his earnings from a chemical distribution business. Smriti, on the other hand, has an estimated net worth of Rs. 32-34 crore, aided by BCCI contracts, WPL earnings and key brand endorsements.
Shriniwas was taken ill during breakfast at the family farmhouse and was rushed to Sarvhit Hospital. Doctors report elevated cardiac enzymes coupled with high blood pressure, an indication of possible angina and he is under close observation.
According to Srinivas Mandhana’s manager Tuhin Mishra, he fell ill during breakfast at the family’s farmhouse in Sangli, Maharashtra. An ambulance was called to rush him to a private hospital when his condition started deteriorating.
The marriage set in motion with traditional ceremonies, has now been postponed indefinitely. The family has asked for privacy while Shriniwas recovers. The family officially announced that the wedding scheduled for November 23 in Sangli is postpone.
