Shardiya Navratri 2025 is around the corner, and millions of devotees are preparing to celebrate this auspicious festival dedicated to Goddess Durga and observed over nine days, Navratri is one of the most significant Hindu festivals celebrated with devotion, fasting, prayers, and lighting of lamps and the festival occurs four times a year, including two Gupt Navratris, but the two main ones are Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri while this year, Shardiya Navratri will fall in September, starting on Monday, September 22, 2025, and ending on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
 

Ghatasthapana Muhurat for Shardiya Navratri

 
According to Drik Panchang, the Pratipada Tithi of Ashwin Shukla Paksha will begin on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 01:23 AM and will end on September 23, 2025, at 02:55 AM while on this first day, devotees worship Goddess Shailputri, the daughter of the Mountain and the word “Shail” in Sanskrit means mountain, reflecting her connection to nature and purity. Ghatasthapana, the ritual of invoking the divine presence of the goddess in a sacred pot, is performed during this muhurat to mark the beginning of the festival.
 

Significance of Shardiya Navratri

 
Shardiya Navratri is celebrated with great devotion, especially because it marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura. This festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and devotees fast, perform prayers, light lamps, and carry out elaborate rituals during these nine days while it begins on the Shukla Paksha Pratipada and continues until Navami, creating a spiritually uplifting atmosphere in homes and temples across India.
 

Nine Forms of Goddess Durga

 
During Shardiya Navratri, people worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga, called Navdurga. Each day is dedicated to one form: Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri. Every form represents different qualities like strength, knowledge, courage, prosperity, and spiritual wisdom. Devotees chant mantras, perform aarti, and pray for good health, success, and happiness.
