Importance of Rama Ekadashi
Keeping the fast and doing the worship of Lord Vishnu during Rama Ekadashi is said to free one from even the most heinous of sins. Hearing or reading the tale of Rama Ekadashi also liberates all sins. Even at the time of death, an individual who keeps this fast achieves heaven.
Why Rama Ekadashi is celebrated
Remove Sins and Grant Liberation (Moksha)
Devotees think that following the fast and doing the rituals as indicated on this day would erase all their past transgressions, even the heinous ones, and take them towards the heavenly abode of Lord Vishnu. In this month the merit of one single fast is said to be equivalent to doing thousands of sacrifices.
Gain Prosperity and Happiness in Life
Ekadashi gets its name from Goddess Lakshmi, also referred to as Rama; devotion to both deities on this day is supposed to confer blessings of fortune, prosperity, and well-being.
Spiritual Purification
Occurring in the sacred month of Kartik, Rama Ekadashi is said to be highly religious for spiritual growth, cleansing the body and mind, and enhancing devotion.
