The nine-day festival of Navratri culminates in its glorious fashion on the ninth day, or Maha Navami. On this final day is the time of culmination, final blessings, and deep celebration of the Divine Feminine energy, Maa Durga. Maa Puja Date: October 1, 2025.

Maa Siddhidatri: The Giver of Perfection

The term 'Siddhidatri' just implies the 'Bestower of Siddhis' or mystical powers and spiritual perfection. It is stated that even Lord Shiva gained all his powers through worshipping this form of the Goddess. Maa Siddhidatri is the ultimate teacher who guides devotees toward wisdom, enlightenment, and success in all walks of life, eliminating all obstacles. She is the personification of all the energies of the Navadurga.

Rituals: Kanya Pujan and Farewell

The principal ritual on Maha Navami is Kanya Pujan (or Kanjak Pujan), in which unmarried young girls (nearly nine of them, with one boy child as Bhairava) are worshipped as the living embodiment of the Goddess.
Worshipping the Girls: The girls' feet are respectfully washed, tilak is applied on their foreheads, and a sacred red thread (mauli) is tied on their wrists.

The Special Feast (Bhog): The girls are then treated to a special sattvic (pure) meal, which has traditionally been Halwa (sweet semolina pudding), Poori (fried bread), and Sookhe Kale Chane (dry black chickpeas).

Seeking Blessings: Devotees then offer the girls small gifts or dakshina (money), and people touch their feet in order to seek their blessings, thereby completing the major Navratri fasts for many.

Performing a Hawan (fire ritual) is also common on this day to offer gratitude and complete the nine-day cycle of worship.

Significance: The Victory of Good

Maha Navami celebrates the victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo demon Mahishasura. It is a day that represents the triumph of good over evil. It represents the culmination of the spiritual pilgrimage of Navratri, bestowing devotees with feelings of completeness, happiness, and the spiritual endurance to encounter life's trials.

Color to Wear: Pink

The hue to adorn on Navratri Day 9 is Pink. A bright yet gentle color symbolizing love, harmony, compassion, and universal brotherhood, which resonates well with the affectionate, benevolent nature of Maa Siddhidatri. Pink is a gesture to celebrate joy and devotion as the grand celebration reaches its culmination.
