Janmashtami or the day Lord Krishna was born on Earth, will be celebrated on August 16, 2025 (Saturday). Every year, the festival is celebrated with love, happiness, and religious fervour. Shri Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu was born on the eighth day (Ashtami) of Krishna Paksh in Bhadrapada month.
Onthis day, devotees fast in honour of his birth and celebrate with traditional cultural programs. They offer 'prasad' or 'bhog', including makhan misri, makhan paag, panchamrit, and gopalkala to Shree Krishna.

Avoid oily, fried snacks like pakodas and fries and opt for more healthy choices like almonds and makhanas. Fresh fruits can also be consumed.
Drink enough water and stay hydrated to avoid dehydration, fatigue, and irritability. Coconut water and fresh juices are good options.
Fruits, yoghurt, buckwheat (kuttu), and water chestnut (singhada) can be consumed as they are easy to digest during the fasting period.
In case of dizziness, eat something healthy to feel better. People with medical conditions should consult a doctor before fasting.
