The moonrise time holds special significance for everyone observing Karwa Chauth. On this auspicious day, married women undertake a strict fast, abstaining from food and water to pray for the health, longevity, and prosperity of their husbands. The fast is only broken once they sight the moon and offer their heartfelt prayers.

What is Karwa Chauth?

Karwa Chauth is a sacred festival deeply rooted in love, devotion, and faith. Married women observe a nirjala vrat (fast without food or water) for their husband’s long life and well-being. In recent years, many husbands have also begun fasting alongside their wives as a sign of love and equality. Unmarried women, too, take part in this ritual, praying for an ideal life partner.

Karwa Chauth 2025 Date

In 2025, Karwa Chauth will be celebrated on Friday, October 10. It falls on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the Krishna Paksha in the Hindu month of Kartik.
