Karwa Chauth or Karak Chaturthi is a highly revered Hindu festival during which married women fast and pray for the long life, prosperity and well-being of their husbands where the women keep a nirjala vrat that is where they do not consume food or water from sunrise until moonrise. In other regions like Gujarat and Maharashtra corresponds to the month of Ashwin due to a difference in calendars and there is an overlap of Chaturthi tithi on two days this year, creating confusion regarding the right date October 10 has been confirmed for the celebrations.
