Bhavishya Malika predictions reveal signs of Kalyug’s end, Jagannath temple signals, and future global events.
The Bhavishya Malika is one of the most discussed prophetic texts in India. Written about 500 years ago by Saint Achyutanand Das of Odisha, the book is part of a vast body of literature produced by the Panchsakha, a group of five great saints. It contains prophecies about pandemics, natural disasters, the Kalki Avatar, the end of Kalyug, and even India’s role in a possible world war. Many believers claim that some predictions, such as the coronavirus pandemic and the Japan earthquake, have already come true and the book is written in riddles, making it open to interpretation, yet it continues to intrigue spiritual seekers and researchers.
Saint Achyutanand Das was born in Puri to Dinbandhu Mohanty and Padmavati. He received his early education in Puri and later met Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, from whom he took initiation, and he then became part of the Panchsakha, along with Sisu Ananta Das, Jasobanta Das, Jagannath Das, and Balaram Das. Together, they translated ancient Hindu scriptures into Odia and shaped Vaishnava philosophy in Odisha while Achyutanand Das gained fame for his deep knowledge of spirituality, yoga, rituals, tantra, yantra, and Ayurveda. His most renowned work remains the Bhavishya Malika, where he wrote about the past, present, and future.

The Bhavishya Malika links the Jagannath temple’s sacred peepal tree, known as Kalpa Vriksha, to global events. The prophecy says that when the tree breaks, an epidemic will spread worldwide. In April 2019, Cyclone Fani uprooted the 600-year-old tree. Just months later, the coronavirus pandemic began, killing millions worldwide. Many see this as direct proof of the prophecy.
According to Hindu texts, Kalyug lasts 4,32,000 years. However, those decoding Bhavishya Malika claim it will last only 5,000 years because of human sins. They believe it will end in 2032, after which a golden age will begin. Others argue that if Mahabharata happened 14,000 years ago, then Kalyug has not ended yet. But if the war took place 5,000 years ago, the end could indeed be near.
The book also lists symptoms of society before Kalyug’s end. People will abandon faith, disrespect elders, and follow fake gurus. Corruption, crime, and immoral relations will rise. Food shortages, diseases, and rebellion against rulers will spread and these changes will signal the world’s decline.

Believers point to Jagannath temple as the center of divine signs. The temple flag, untouched for centuries, caught fire in March 2020. Birds, which never sat on the temple, began appearing after 2019. During Cyclone Fani, the temple flag fell into sea water, another sign mentioned in the text. Finally, the book says Saturn entering Pisces will mark the beginning of the end and this alignment will happen on March 30, 2025, raising fears of dramatic global changes.
