Kharna Pujan is a significant ritual of Chhath Puja observed with devotion, especially in Indian states such as Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh, in the name of the Sun God. Prasads of different kinds are offered during the ceremony to receive blessings, prosperity, purity, and positivity. The foods prepared are simple and yet traditional and hold a spiritual connection as well as a combination. Some of the special prasads that turn the day of Kharna Pujan into a glorious day are

Gur Ki Kheer

Gur Ki Kheer is a sweet kheer prepared with jaggery, milk, and rice. It is creamy, soft, and flavorful. Jaggery is considered auspicious, and the offering of this kheer to the Sun God represents sweetness in life and spiritual sustenance.

Pitti (Small Rice Bowls)

Pitti are steamed rice bowls that are made with devotion and pure dedication. They are humble and easy to digest without any harmful effect, but they also signify purity and dedication. These little rice bowls have traditionally been made as an offering of humility and respect to the godhead. They also bring a touch of tradition to the prasad thali.

Choti Tava Roti

Choti Tava Roti are soft, round rotis that are cooked on a small tava or griddle. They are light, nourishing, and simple to digest. Having them in the offering of Kharna Pujan provides a well-balanced prasad plate that is both holy and wholesome.

Rashiya

Rashiya is a traditional confection made of flour, ghee, and jaggery. It is rich, fragrant, and gives a festive touch to the ceremony. Presenting Rashiya means prosperity and sweetness in family life. Its distinctive taste and feel are reasons for its popularity during Kharna Pujan.

Chawal Dal

Chawal Dal, a plain mixture of lentils and rice, features prominently in most ancient rituals. This health-giving food symbolizes sustenance and nourishment. It is sacred and nutritious, hence, it is a perfect prasadam for people of all ages.

Observing Kharna Pujan with devotion

Offering these special prasads during Kharna Pujan fills everyone’s heart with joy, happiness, and divine blessings. Every food, from the sweet Gur Ki Kheer to the healthy Chawal Dal, carries its own importance and role. Cooking and offering these items with devotion strengthens the connection between tradition and spirituality, making the ritual a significant and memorable event forever.
