On this day, sisters tie Rakhi on their brothers’ wrists during the shubh muhurat, pray for their well-being, and exchange sweets and gifts and in return, brothers vow to protect their sisters and shower them with love and meaningful presents.

However, timing is everything also in Hindu traditions place immense importance on performing rituals during the right muhurat, as it brings success, peace, and positivity. On the other hand, certain timeframes during the day are considered inauspicious, and rituals like Rakhi tying must be avoided during those windows.

Auspicious Muhurat for Raksha Bandhan 2025

The ideal time to tie Rakhi this year is from 5:47 AM to 1:24 PM. This window is spiritually beneficial and said to bring harmony, prosperity, and long-lasting sibling bonds. Sisters are encouraged to perform the Rakhi ritual during this time.

Inauspicious Timings to Avoid on August 9

Gulik Kaal:
Starts from 5:47 AM to 7:27 AM and though not entirely negative, it can yield mixed results based on planetary positions.

Rahukaal:
This is highly inauspicious, this period falls between 9:07 AM and 10:47 AM and rituals should strictly be avoided.

Durmuhurat:
Known for causing failure or interruptions. On Raksha Bandhan, it lasts from 5:47 AM to 7:34 AM.

Yamagand:
Linked with misfortune, this falls between 2:06 PM and 3:46 PM. Avoid starting new ventures or tying Rakhi.

Adal Yoga:
Begins at 2:23 PM on August 9 and lasts until 5:48 AM on August 10 but this period can bring emotional instability and mixed outcomes.

Varjya Kaal:
This starts from 6:18 PM to 7:52 PM, worship and other auspicious tasks are best avoided during this window.

Baan Kaal:
It is associated with loss or destruction, but the timings may vary by location, so check local Panchang for exact Baan Kaal period before planning rituals.
