Almonds rank among the most popular nuts in the world. They are rich in protein, fiber, good fats, vitamins, and minerals that make our body healthy and strong. Individuals consume them in various manners, some like them raw, while others soak them overnight. Owing to this, one popular question has arisen: Which one is superior, soaked almonds or raw almonds? Let's discuss the difference in depth.
Almonds contain a high level of nutrients such as vitamin E, magnesium, calcium, protein, and antioxidants. Such nutrients are responsible for enhancing cardiovascular health, improving brain function, making bones stronger, and imparting a natural glow to the skin.
Raw almonds and soaked almonds contain nearly the same kind of nutrients, but our body's absorption of them may vary.
If almonds are soaked overnight in water, their skin turns soft and can be peeled off easily. The skin of almonds has a natural chemical which is called tannin and it can prevent some of the nutrients from being absorbed by the body.
By peeling and soaking them, the nutrients of almonds become more easily absorbed. They also turn softer, making them easier to chew and digest.
Easy for children and elderly: Being soft, soaked almonds are ideal choice for individuals who are unable to chew hard nuts which is helpful for the elder people.
Both raw and soaked almonds are healthy and nutritious, If you digest foods well and like a crunchy snack, raw almonds are an excellent choice. But if you need the maximum absorption of nutrients, or if you can't digest raw almonds, soaked almonds are the way to go.
Ideally, consuming 5–10 almonds a day in any manner is sufficient to receive their health benefits. You can even alternate between both consume soaked almonds in the morning for energy and raw almonds later during the day as a crunchy snack.
