Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a blistering attack on the Congress government, accusing Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of betraying Telangana’s unemployed youth by failing to deliver the promised two lakh government jobs even after two years in office.
KTR said public anger among unemployed youth was reaching a boiling point as the Chief Minister had “shamelessly backtracked” on his election guarantee of providing two lakh jobs within the first year of assuming power. He alleged that Revanth Reddy, who rose to power through “backdoor politics”, was now conveniently claiming that the job promise was meant for five years, a narrative that has left the youth disgusted and disillusioned.
Recalling Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi’s statement during the campaign that the government should be ousted if two lakh jobs were not filled in the first year, KTR said the Congress government itself would have collapsed by now had those words been honoured. He accused the Chief Minister of merely distributing appointment letters for 65,000 jobs that were already in the final stages under the previous KCR-led BRS government and later abandoning recruitment altogether, reducing Telangana to a state of “zero recruitment”.
KTR pointed out that while the BRS government had already filled 1.65 lakh jobs, the present regime had failed to issue notifications even for 10,000 new posts.
