With 37,975 fresh Covid-19 infections, India recorded 13 per cent fewer coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. The country also reported 480 Covid-related deaths in this period, marginally lower than 511 on Monday. India’s overall coronavirus case count now stands at 91.77 lakh, with 1,34,218 Covid-related fatalities, so far. Active cases rose to almost 4.4 lakh as more than 40,000 people successfully fought off the virus taking overall recoveries to 86,04,955. The country’s overall recovery rate is 93.75 per cent, with a daily positivity rate of about 3.5 per cent against 10.9 lakh tests in the last 24 hours.
Maharashtra reported 5,439 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the count of infections to 17,89,800. With 30 more people succumbing to the infection, the overall toll rose to 46,683. A total of 4,086 patients were discharged in the day after treatment, taking the tally of recoveries in the state to 16,58,879. The number of active patients now stands at 83,221. Mumbai city reported 939 new coronavirus positive cases, taking its cumulative caseload to 2,77,453 while death toll rose to 10,708 with 19 people succumbing to the infection. The state has so far conducted 1,03,66,579 tests.
Delhi reported 6,224 new Covid-19 cases, 4,943 recoveries, and 109 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total cases in the national capital stand at 5,40,541, total recoveries stand at 4,93,419. Meanwhile currently active cases are 38,501 in Delhi. Death toll stand at 8,621.
Punjab reported 614 new Covid-19 cases, 439 discharges and 22 deaths in last 24 hours. Total cases in the state rise to 1,47,665, including 1,36,178 recoveries and 4,653 deaths. Active cases stand at 6,834.
Madhya Pradesh reported 1,766 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the count of infections to 1,96,511, while 11 fatalities pushed the toll to 3,183. A total of 1,112 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally of recoveries to 1,80,349. Three persons died in Indore, two in Bhopal while one each succumbed in Gwalior, Jabalpur, Sagar, Betul, Dewas and Bhind.
Rajasthan recorded 19 more fatalities due to the novel coronavirus in last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 2,200, while 3,314 fresh cases brought the infection count to 2,50,482 in the state. A total of 25,197 Covid-19 patients are under treatment in the state. So far 2,23,085 people have been discharged after treatment.
Odisha’s Covid-19 caseload mounted to 3,15,271 after 642 more people tested positive for the infection, while 14 fresh fatalities took the number to 1,671.
Jharkhand’s Covid-19 tally rose to 1,07,688 as 219 more people tested positive for the infection. Two more patients died due to the infection, pushing the state’s coronavirus deaths to 953.
The Covid-19 death count in West Bengal rose to 8,072 after 47 more people died due to the disease. It said that 3,557 new cases of infection took the tally to 4,59,918.
Kerala reported 5,420 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of active cases in the state to 64,412.
