Tensions between India and China on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) are at their peak. Military forces from both sides have nearly come faceto-face and even after several rounds of talks, the situation has not de-escalated.

The Indian Air Force is also flying by on its side of the LAC, while the Army is preparing for all situations. This includes prepping the Bofors Howitzer canons that were used to defeat Pakistan in the Kargil war.

Military engineers in Ladakh are constantly servicing and maintaining the 155mm weapon for all eventualities. The Bofors canons are capable of firing in both high and low angles; it was included in the artillery in the 1980s.The task of technical store group is to provide the repair technicians with spares ranging from a firing pin to the engine assembly of a tank. Mobile Spares Bin Laurie is used to send spares and equipment to the troops deployed at forward posts of the Ladakh region.

The Bofors guns have been helpful in winning many wars. During the Kargil war in 1999, when the Army was forced to face difficult conditions, the Bofors guns had changed the contours of the entire war on their own. During the Kargil war, the Army demolished Pakistani posts and bunkers built behind the mountains with the canon. The fire power of this tank helped in taking the attack to the enemies sitting on a height.

The cannon can strike a target up to 42 km away and its barrel can rotate up to 70 degrees. The gun can inflict heavy damage on those camping in faraway locations and had successfully done so against Pakistan.
