Srinagar: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday issued a high-danger avalanche warning for six districts following fresh snowfall.

Avalanches are expected above 2,300 metres in Ganderbal district over the next 24 hours, officials warned. A similar threat exists above 2,500 metres in Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, and Ramban in the Jammu region, and in Kupwara in North Kashmir.

Officials urged residents, trekkers, and tourists to avoid avalancheprone areas and strictly follow official advisories. Earlier, moderate to heavy snowfall across most of Jammu and Kashmir further raised the risk in higher reaches.
