What is the APAAR ID?

The APAAR ID is a 12-digit unique digital identity assigned to students under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 vision of One Nation, One Student ID. It is a digitized compromise of academic records, certificates and co-curricular achievements of the students into one secure account linked to DigiLocker.

  • Schools must verify student details such as name, date of birth, Aadhaar number, etc.
  • After verifying the details on the UDISE+ portal schools must generate the APAAR IDs.
  • These IDs will get linked directly to the students DigiLocker accounts and Parents will receive the confirmation SMS.
  • The schools are to ensure that the APAAR ID is also included on school ID cards and integrated into the school’s IT systems.
  • Schools should guide the parents to the Common Service Centre’s (CSCs) for corrections.
