BPSSC Recruitment 2025: 1,799 Sub-Inspector Seats Announced, Check Eligibility

The Bihar Police Subordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) has officially released the notification for the recruitment of 1,799 Sub-Inspector (SI) posts. Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply online through the official website bpssc.bihar.gov.in. The application process begins on 26 September 2025 and will continue until 26 October 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the Bihar Police SI recruitment, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Citizenship: Must be an Indian citizen.

  • Education: Graduation from a recognized university or equivalent by 1 August 2025.

  • Age Limit:

    • General category males: 20–37 years

    • General category females: 20–40 years

    • Backward Classes (BC) and Extremely Backward Classes (EBC): 20–40 years

    • Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST): 20–42 years

Selection Process

The recruitment will follow a three-stage process:

  1. Preliminary Examination

  2. Main Examination

  3. Physical Eligibility and Efficiency Test

Candidates must qualify in each stage to progress to the next.

Preliminary Examination

  • Format: 100 multiple-choice questions

  • Total Marks: 200

  • Duration: 2 hours

  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30%

  • Negative Marking: 0.2 marks deducted per wrong answer

Candidates who score below 30% will not be eligible for the main examination.

Main Examination

The main exam consists of two papers:

  1. Paper 1 – General Hindi

    • 100 questions, 200 marks

    • Duration: 2 hours

    • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30% (marks not counted for merit)

  2. Paper 2 – General Studies & Related Subjects

    • Topics: General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability

    • 100 questions, 200 marks

    • Duration: 2 hours

    • Negative marking: 0.2 marks per wrong answer

Candidates must clear both papers to move forward in the selection process.
