New rates have been introduced for the treatment of coronavirus patients in the private hospitals of Delhi, bringing in much-needed relief. Now, if a patient wants to undergo Covid-19 treatment in private hospitals of the national capital, the price will be three times less than before. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) constituted a committee headed by Dr V.K. Paul, member, NITI Aayog, which recommended the new rates.

The committee recommended the implementation of rates of Rs 8,000-10,000 for isolation beds with PPE kit, Rs 13,000-15,000 for ICU beds without ventilators and Rs 15,000-18,000 for beds with ventilators, which has been accepted. Earlier, these prices were Rs 24,000-25,000, Rs 34,000- 43,000 and Rs 44,000- 54,000 respectively without including PPE kit. “New rates have been introduced for the treatment of coronainfected patients in Delhi’s private hospitals,” MHA said.

Meanwhile, the MHA also said that testing of samples has doubled after Home Minister Amit Shah’s decision. A total of 27,263 samples were collected in Delhi from June 15 to June 17, whereas earlier only 4,000- 4,500 samples were collected every day. Following HM’s directions, house-tohouse health survey in 242 containment zones of Delhi completed yesterday and 2.3 lakh people were surveyed.

Rapid Antigen technique which is much cheaper and faster has started in Delhi and 7,040 people have been tested in 193 testing centres. Testing facilities to be ramped up in the coming days.
