Maharashtra and Mumbai have recently seen a huge spike in the number of Covid-19 cases and that has affected not just the common man, but also Bollywood, with a slew of actors testing Covid positive recently, including Akshay Kumar, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Kartik Aryan, Tara Sutaria, Paresh Rawal, and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Some of them are, however, now on the path to recovery, after having subsequently tested negative. Meanwhile, Indian Idol season one winner Abhijeet Sawant informed on Monday that he had tested positive and will remain under home quarantine.

On Monday, Akshay Kumar was hospitalised, a day after being diagnosed with Covid-19. The actor took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Thank you, everyone, for all your warm wishes and prayers, they seem to be working. I am doing fine, but as a precautionary measure under medical advice, I have been hospitalised. I hope to be back home soon. Take care.” On Sunday, the 53-year-old Akshay revealed that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and was under home quarantine. “I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for Covid-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself,” he wrote on Twitter.

On Monday, actors Bhumi Pednekar and Vicky Kaushal confirmed that they have tested positive. Pednekar is currently under home quarantine. The Bala actor took to her Instagram handle and wrote, “I HAVE TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID-19. As of today, I have mild symptoms, but am feeling ok and have isolated myself. I am following the protocol given by my doctor and health professionals. If you have been in contact with me, request you to please get tested immediately.” Requesting people to practice caution, she added, “Steam, Vit – C, Food and a Happy Mood are my go-to. Please don’t take the current situation lightly, even though I followed utmost precaution and care I’ve contracted it. Wear a mask, keep washing your hands, maintain social distancing and be mindful of your general behaviour.”

Vicky Kaushal’s Covid positive news came soon after Pednekar’s announcement. Kaushal took to his Instagram handle and wrote, “Inspite of all care and precautions, unfortunately, I have tested positive for Covid-19. Following all essential protocols, I am under home quarantine, taking medication as prescribed by my doctor.” He further urged the people who came in contact with him to get tested and wrote, “I request all those who came in contact with me to immediately get tested. Take care and stay safe.” On the professional front, Vicky Kaushal has several projects in the pipeline including Sardar Udham Singh, The Immortal Ashwatthama, Takht, and Sam Bahadur.

Amid the gloom, however, Kartik Aaryan on Monday announced that he has finally tested negative for Covid-19 after previously contracting the deadly virus on 22 March. He took to his Instagram handle and shared the news with his fans by posting a photo depicting his excitement.

Actor Alia Bhatt had recently tested positive for Covid. Ranbir Kapoor had tested positive too. The actor’s mother, Neetu Kapoor, took to social media and informed about the same. However, later, he has tested negative. Gangubai Kathiawadi’s director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had also battled with Covid-19. The filmmaker went into home quarantine for two weeks after testing positive and later he tested negative.

Tara Sutaria had also tested Covid-19 positive, but later, after being quarantined and taking proper safety measures, she later tested negative and is now healthy. “Thank you all for your concern and love. I am Covid negative and healthy! Be safe and well. Lots of love to you all,” she wrote.
