India’s Covid-19 caseload rose to 94.99 lakh, while the total number of people who have recuperated from the disease crossed 89 lakh pushing the national recovery rate to over 94 per cent. The total coronavirus cases mounted to 94,99,413, with 36,604 new infections being reported in a day, while the death count climbed to 1,38,122 with 501 new fatalities.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 89,32,647, pushing the national recovery rate to 94.03 per cent, while the Covid-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.45 per cent. The active caseload remained below 5 lakh for the 22nd consecutive day. There are 4,28,644 active coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 4.51 per cent of the total caseload.

Delhi recorded 3,944 fresh Covid-19 cases, taking the infection tally in the national capital to over 5.78 lakh on Wednesday, while 82 more fatalities pushed the death count in the state to 9,342. “The Covid-19 positivity rate in Delhi has dropped below seven per cent,” said Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Wednesday, adding that it was expected to dip further beyond five per cent in the next few days.

Haryana recorded 1,607 new coronavirus cases, including 2,646 recoveries and 32 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra continued to report a drop in new Covid-19 cases. On Monday, the state saw an increase of 3,837 new cases, taking the tally here to 18,23,896. As many as 80 people succumbed to the virus, pushing the death toll to 47,151, whereas a total of 4,196 more people were discharged after recovery. Active cases now stand at 90,557.

Kerala recorded 6,316 fresh Covid-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total caseload to 6.14 lakh as the count mounted to 2,298 with 28 additional fatalities. As many as 5,924 have been cured, taking the total recoveries so far to 5,50,788. Active cases stand at 61,455.

Indore recorded the highest single-day spike of 595 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising the tally in the worst-affected district of Madhya Pradesh to 43,286, health department officials said on Wednesday. So far, 767 people have died due to Covid-19 in the district, which is the state’s industrial hub, they said.

Telangana reported 565 Covid-19 cases and one death on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 2,70,883. A total of 2,60,155 people have recovered from coronavirus infection in the state, while discharged cases and 1,462 deaths due to the viral infection. The active cases in the state stand at 9,266.

West Bengal reported 2,671 new Covid-19 cases, 2,730 were discharges including 48 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total cases in the state stand at 4,83,484 out of which 4,50,762 have recovered from the virus and the death toll hiked up to 8,424. Active cases in the state stand at 24,298.
