In 106 T20Is, he has amassed 710 runs at an average of 16.51 and a strike rate nearing 120, including a high score of 77* and one half-century.

As for the match, Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bowl first. New Zealand struggled to build momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals, with Will Young (30 off 32 balls, three fours) and Josh Clarkson (24 off 25 balls, two sixes) making key contributions. New Zealand was bowled out for 108 in 19.3 overs, with standout bowling performances from Wanindu Hasaranga (4/17) and Matheesha Pathirana (3/11). Sri Lanka now needs 109 runs to secure a 2-0 win in the two-match series.
