In a disturbing continuation of threats against Bollywood star Salman Khan, an anonymous message directed at Mumbai traffic control warned that the actor would be killed unless he paid a ransom of ₹2 crore. According to police sources, a case has been registered against an unidentified individual, and an investigation is underway. The charges include extortion and threats to life.
Recent Arrests Linked to Threats
The alarming news follows the arrest of a 20-year-old man in Noida who was implicated in making death threats against Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddiqui, the son of late NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was murdered on October 12. Authorities have brought Gufran Khan to Mumbai on transit remand for questioning. Earlier, Mumbai Police detained 24-year-old Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, a vegetable vendor from Jamshedpur, following a threat received via the Mumbai traffic police’s WhatsApp helpline, which demanded a ransom of ₹5 crore.
Context of Ongoing Threats
Salman Khan has faced multiple death threats in the past, primarily linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, allegedly due to his involvement in a blackbuck hunting case during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain. In April, gunfire was reported outside the actor’s residence in Bandra, prompting a significant increase in his security measures.
The recent threats come shortly after the tragic death of Baba Siddique, a former MLA known for his close ties to Salman Khan. The actor made a brief appearance on the reality show Bigg Boss shortly after the incident, expressing that he felt reluctant to return due to the current circumstances but had to fulfill his work commitments. He revealed that he was not in the mood to meet anyone during this challenging time.
