According to The Himalayan Times, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has launched an investigation into an incident that occurred on Friday in which two airplanes—one operated by Air India and the other by Nepal Airlines Corporation—were dangerously close to colliding in midair.
According to a statement made by CAAN’s information officer, Gyanendra Bhul, a three-member internal committee has been established to monitor the probe. Two ATC officers who were in command at the time of the event have also been suspended by the CAAN.
The country manager of Air India has also been told to suspend the affected pilots till the publication of the investigation’s final findings.
