Due to floods and landslides, at least two people were killed and 11 are missing in the Bangabagad area of the Darchula district of Nepal that borders India.
Meanwhile, the incessant rainfall resulted in flooding due to which Lasku and Mahakali Rivers water leveled up and it swept away houses and two bridges on Saturday.
“There are reports of two deaths and 11 people unaccounted for in the landslide and flooding incident early on Saturday morning. Some people have been pulled out from the landmass, immediately after the landslide,” Jagat Magar, Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Darchula said.
According to the reports on Saturday, a woman and a girl were buried on the landside at around 1 AM at Naugad Village Council.
Moreover, in Khalanga dozen houses have been swept by the flood and a few vehicles were also swept away in the flood.
“Search and rescue operation is currently underway,” Inspector Magar said.
In the Pithoragarh district in India heavy devastation could be seen.
However, about 30 houses have been destroyed in the cloud burst incident in which one woman died. Pithoragarh DM Ashish Chauhan said NDRF and SDRF teams are engaged on the spot.
