In the ongoing investigation of the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has recently made 2 more arrests from Bihar and Jharkhand. Previously, on June 27, the CBI had detained two individuals from Bihar in connection with the case.

The new arrests include individuals identified as Manish Prakash and Ashutosh Kumar, apprehended from Patna. Ashutosh is alleged to have provided the premises where leaked NEET question papers were accessed by aspirants, while Manish is accused of facilitating the distribution of the leaked papers.

The Supreme Court, meanwhile, has issued notices to private parties regarding pleas filed by the National Testing Agency (NTA). These pleas seek the consolidation of cases related to the NEET-UG controversy from various high courts into the apex court to streamline legal proceedings.

The NEET-UG exam, conducted on May 5, saw allegations of paper leaks soon after the release of results on June 4, prompting widespread concerns about the integrity of the examination.

Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud emphasized the importance of assessing the scale of the leak to determine whether a re-test is necessary, underscoring that such a measure would be considered only as a last resort.
